Three people have died and numerous others have been injured in a horrific accident at the Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School Junction on the Cape Coast-Accra Highway.
At a media briefing, DOIII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the Ghana National Fire Service's (GNFS) Central Regional Public Relations Officer, gave an account of the occurrence.
He clarified that a Yutong bus, registered GW 6231-21, carrying 53 people from Takoradi to Accra, flipped over and fell on its side, trapping some of the passengers below.
"All of the casualties were successfully rescued by our Ghana National Fire Service officers working with the police and ambulance services," DOIII Wasiu Hudu said.
"The injured were taken for medical treatment to the University of Cape Coast Hospital and the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital."
Three people have perished, according to medical personnel at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while other passengers were injured to varying degrees.
According to DOIII Wasiu Hudu, nine patients have been treated and released from the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, while 23 victims are presently undergoing treatment there.
