The rotting body of a young man was discovered at the Berekum major lorry station in the Bono region.

Drivers and food merchants at the truck stop have expressed worry about the terrible odor emanating from the body.

The lifeless body was discovered on Sunday evening, but all attempts to get the police to transport it to the mortuary were unsuccessful.

According to the drivers, the deceased was frequently spotted hauling garbage, which suggests he may have had mental health concerns.

"He came to sleep at the spot, but we thought he was just resting," a driver told me.

Some food merchants have complained about reduced sales since people are avoiding the area owing to the terrible odor.

The station officers reported that they had called the police, but by the time this news was published, the body had not yet been removed.

Some passengers voiced fear that the body odor could cause a disease epidemic because the air around the station is filthy.
