The Limuru sub-county police chief, Senior Police Officer Philip Mwania, was killed in a sad accident in Kenya. Mwania was heading home from celebrating Christmas with his family in Kitui County when the deadly incident happened late on Friday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., a collision occurred on the Kitui-Mutomo route close to the River Nzeeu bridge. Mwania struck a Mitsubishi FH truck head-on while operating his Toyota Fielder alone. Because of the force of the blow, Mwania passed away right away. Witnesses described the collision as a terrifying experience and noted significant damage to his car.
Police investigations state that the head-on collision occurred because Mwania's vehicle seems to have swerved into the opposing lane. Although the reason of the collision is still being looked into, authorities are emphasizing the need for better road safety regulations in the region.
On December 7, 2024, a truck and a saloon vehicle collided along the Ghana highway near Kahoya Trading Center, killing two individuals. This catastrophe comes after a similar tragedy the day before.
In the Kitui-Mutomo region, locals and civic leaders are urging the government to take urgent action to improve road safety. To stop more accidents, they are calling for the construction of speed bumps, improved lighting, and more readable road signage.
Mwania's body was sent to the mortuary at Kitui County Referral Hospital after the terrible collision. He was heading home to spend the holiday season, and his family and coworkers are in mourning over his passing.
