According to eyewitnesses, the sister escaped the inferno but failed to inform anyone, trapping the boy within.
Neighbors who observed the fire were unable to contact the fire service because they believed that access to the area was restricted.
Instead, they worked together to extinguish the fire.
The boy's parents were not home at the time of the occurrence, as they had not yet returned from work.
Preliminary accounts from neighbours suggest that the fire was caused by a defective electrical connection, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.
