A truck fully loaded with granite lost control and rammed into a local market in Ibadan's Eleyele neighborhood on Wednesday, killing one and badly injuring many others.

It was stated that the vehicle lost control and crushed some of the suspected roadside sellers at the Eleyele Junction market, killing one of them on the spot.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck gravely injured many of the roadside sellers and tiny market vendors at the Eleyele bus stop.

The truck loaded with granite was alleged to be traveling in the opposite direction before losing control, trapping some roadside traders before proceeding for the adjoining motor park, where it struck waiting passengers, injuring many.

The truck driver was believed to have fled the scene during the commotion caused by the crash.

Mrs Rosemary Alo, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the unfortunate incident over the phone.

He added the roadside sellers were previously informed about the dangers of conducting business in the location, saying, "If they had heeded these warnings, we could have potentially reduced the number of casualties,"
