Following claims that the seals on a bag carrying ballot papers for Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region were purportedly broken, along with obvious traces of tampering on the zip, questions have been raised over the integrity of electoral materials.

The Eastern Regional Police Command discovered the situation on Friday while sending ballots to several districts. The public and political parties were previously reassured by the Electoral Commission (EC) that the seals of all parties, in addition to the Commission's own, are essential measures to guarantee openness and guard against election-related manipulation.

Since then, videos of the tampered bag have gone viral on social media, causing a great deal of worry and calls for clarification. Platform X (previously Twitter) users have voiced concern about the incident's ramifications and urged the EC to take immediate action to preserve public trust in the election process.

The Electoral Commission has not yet released an official statement on the subject as of the time of publication.
