A tragic occurrence occurred during President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's final State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on January 3, 2025. One of the President's personal bodyguards fainted unexpectedly as he was giving his address.

The bodyguard, who is well-known for standing right behind the President during public occasions, unexpectedly fell to the floor, causing alarm in the parliamentary chamber. The event occurred while President Akufo-Addo was addressing Parliament about his government's achievements and challenges over the last eight years.

Security guards and paramedics in the chamber reacted immediately to the issue. They assisted in carrying the bodyguard out of the room and transporting him to a hospital for treatment. Although the cause of the collapse is unknown, sources claim he was aware when he was removed from Parliament.

The viral video depicts a stunning scene, especially given the bodyguard's reputation as a strong and fit individual who is constantly attentive and ready to protect the President. Many MPs and guests in the chamber were visibly concerned about his health.

Despite the event, President Akufo-Addo kept his cool and continued with his speech after assuring that the bodyguard was taken care of. He went on to highlight his administration's significant successes, including as advances in infrastructure, education, and the economy.

Ghanaians are now waiting for information on the bodyguard's status, as speculation regarding his health and the cause of the collapse continues to spread.
