Actress Matilda Asare of Kumawood has accused Alan Kyerematen of conspiring against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the run-up to the general elections in 2024.

Matilda Asare claimed in a social media video that Alan Kyerematen, popularly known as "Alan Cash," is receiving funding from members of opposing political parties in an attempt to undermine the NPP's base in Kumasi.

She claims that the alleged strategy aims to weaken Bawumia's base of support in the Ashanti Region, a crucial NPP vote bloc.

She said in the video, "You want to create division among the Ashanti Region's people, but you will fail because Ghanaians don't discriminate."

Matilda further claimed that Alan is quietly urging voters to reject Bawumia because of his Northern ancestry, calling the strategy unpatriotic and polarizing. She promised to expose Alan if needed and claimed to have inside knowledge of his purported scheme.

Both within the NPP and among Ghanaians, her comments have generated conflicting responses. While some party members share Matilda's worries, others have called for harmony and composure to avoid internal strife that would jeopardize the party's chances of winning elections. Alan Kyerematen has not yet addressed these accusations. Kyerematen just left the NPP to run as an independent. The charges, according to political commentators, underscore the escalating conflicts inside the party and the importance of the 2024 elections.

NPP supporters have stepped up their calls for reconciliation within the party, emphasizing the value of unity in order to guarantee a big turnout at the polls. Regardless of the veracity of Matilda Asare's allegations, the dispute has further complicated the already contentious political environment.
