John-Peter Amewu, the Member of Parliament for Hohoe and Railway Development Minister, announced that the newly inaugurated Hohoe Central Market will introduce night trading, a first for the Volta Region. He stated, "In a very short time, we will start trading here at night. We will provide lights in all stores and sheds to enhance trading activities, and it will be the first in the Volta Region."

Speaking at the commissioning of the new market in Hohoe, Mr. Amewu stated that the government had done sufficient work for the constituency and would continue to do more. He encouraged traders to maintain the facility to extend its lifespan and urged the Assembly's revenue mobilization taskforce to be accountable to ensure ongoing development.

He affirmed the government's commitment to finishing ongoing projects while launching new ones to foster the constituency's development.

Mr. Amewu urged the Assembly and the market women to ensure that sufficient allocations were made to compensate the traditional authorities and landowners.

Mr. Francis Fiakpui, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), stated that the market offers a dynamic space for local vendors to display their goods and services, promoting economic growth and enhancing trade relations both locally and internationally.

The market features 106 lockable stores, 146 sheds, a warehouse, a crèche, and posts for police, health, and fire services.

Mr. Fiakpui mentioned that the project was funded by the World Bank under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP) through the Local Government Ministry.

He stated that the Public Employment Centre, funded by the World Bank through the Employment and Labour Relations Ministry, would act as a central hub for addressing all employment-related matters. It would link job seekers with employers and oversee employment issues among them.

He also mentioned that other ongoing projects under the GSCSP would soon be completed, and he encouraged everyone to pay their market tolls regularly to help the Assembly gather revenue for market maintenance and to provide essential services to the community.

Togbega Gabusu VII, the Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area, expressed gratitude for the government's development projects and praised Mr. Amewu and the Hohoe Municipal Assembly for their efforts.

Madam Doris Amu, the Queen of the Hohoe Market Women Association, also conveyed appreciation to the government on behalf of the Association and promised that the facility would be well-maintained.

The event included the inauguration of new 16-unit garages at Gbi Godenu and the Volta Regional Public Employment Centre.
