Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a retired political science lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has expressed doubts about Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's ability to boost Ghana's economy in the event that he wins the presidency in the general elections scheduled for December 7.

Dr. Amoako Baah maintained that Dr. Bawumia does not possess the "magic wand" necessary to address the nation's economic problems, emphasizing that the administration was a team effort rather than an individual one.

Dr. Amoako Baah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia was a member of the current government, which he blames for Ghana's current economic problems.

Dr. Amoako Baah voiced his disapproval of former President John Agyekum Kufuor's recent endorsement of Dr. Bawumia as the most qualified candidate to revive the economy, casting doubt on the NPP's choice to support Dr. Bawumia as the remedy for the economic problems he contributed to creating.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, on Accra 100.5 FM's Ghana Yensom Morning Show, which was co-hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman and Kaayire Kwesi Appea-Apraku, Dr. Amoako Baah also chastised the NPP leadership for what he called a lack of accountability in supporting Dr. Bawumia.

Given his position in the current administration, he argued that the NPP leadership's promotion of Dr. Bawumia as the economic savior was "shameless."

Dr. Amoako Baah also questioned former President Kufuor's economic management performance, pointing out that during his administration, Ghana was classified as a Heavily Indebted Poor Country (HIPC).

Although he acknowledged his admiration for Kufuor, he contended that Kufuor's economic management record was equally subpar.

Dr. Amoako Baah hypothesized that Kufuor's support of Dr. Bawumia might have been a "paid-for endorsement," indicating that it was influenced by outside forces.
