The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will remain in opposition for the next 30 years, according to a bold forecast made by Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
Speaking at a final victory rally walk in Nsawam on Saturday in advance of the next elections, Annoh-Dompreh made this claim.
According to the Danquah-Dombo-Busia tradition, he compared the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 30-year period in opposition from 1979 to 2000 to the election of former President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2000.
Annoh-Dompreh claims that the NDC will repeat this history by continuing to oppose for the ensuing three decades.
He credited Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who he considers to be the most qualified candidate to lead Ghana, and the NPP's successful campaign for this forecast.
In addition, Annoh-Dompreh said he was confident the NPP would win the next elections with a clean slate and remove former President John Mahama from office.
In support of his refusal to lead Ghana once more, he pointed to Mahama's previous administration, which he said caused the economy to collapse.
To ensure a landslide win for Dr. Bawumia, the Majority Chief Whip asked party members to run a clean campaign.
Additionally, he issued a warning against violence on election day, declaring that the NPP will not put up with any intimidation or threats from the opposition.
The Victory Walk
On Saturday, November 30, 2024, Frank Annoh-Dompreh led a large-scale farewell march along the main thoroughfares of Nsawam as a sign of strength and unity.
Thousands of supporters and sympathizers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) attended the event, which was intended to bring the party members back together following the parliamentary primaries and prepare them for the elections on December 7.
The "Victory Walk" was a demonstration of Annoh-Dompreh's renown and power among the community.
He has played a significant role in advancing the NPP's program in his capacity as Majority Chief Whip and has been an outspoken advocate for the party's presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
