President-elect John Dramani Mahama has once again distinguished himself from competition with his own dress sense, donning gorgeous Agbaza with a touch of inclusive Ghanaian culture.

President John Dramani Mahama wore a traditional white Agbaza with elaborate kente embroidery during his inauguration ceremony on January 7, 2025. The kente fabric included Adinkra emblems, like the Nyame Dua, symbolizing the Tree of Life, which represents purity and blessings.

The dress was a deviation from the traditional suit and tie worn by many statement makers; nonetheless, John Dramani Mahama's departure from the convention reflected a blend of cultural heritage and symbolic significance. The use of white represents purity and victory, while Kente accents emphasize Ghana's rich cultural identity.

The clothing combines all of Ghana's key cultural values, including the Ashanti kente, Agbaza, and northern cap. It is worth noting that the exquisite costume was designed by Ghana's best fashion design hub, Bondaana.

Prior to the ceremony, there were several disputes about the significance of including specific colours in the president's outfit. Prophet Amoako Atta even recommended President Mahama to wear red during his inauguration, implying that it was spiritually significant to his triumph.

However, President John Dramani Mahama's final choice of the white Agbaza with Kente accents was positively received by many Ghanaians, representing a dedication to cultural values and national unity as he began his new term in office.
