Two people were slain as a result of attacks by unidentified shooters in two different locations in Bawku.
The incidents took place during ongoing tensions in the neighborhood, which have seen a revival of violence in recent months.
Moro Aziz, a mentally unbalanced guy from Gozesi, a suburb of Bawku, is said to have gone into the Bawku graveyard and been slain.
The circumstances of his death are unknown, but it marks another heartbreaking loss in the conflict-torn area.
The second victim, Kasim, was killed in Daduri, another Bawku suburb, while attempting to relocate.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers targeted him as he moved through the hazardous region.
The recent killings raise the total number of deaths in Bawku to 35 since the crisis erupted in late October 2024.
Despite the authorities imposing a dawn-to-dusk curfew to reduce the violence, the situation in the town remains unstable and unpredictable.
The war, which began in November 2021 over the installation of a competing chief, eased briefly in 2023 but flared up again on October 25, 2024.
The return of the rival chief, Alhaji Seidu Abagre, who was installed by the Nayir, is said to have sparked further violence.
The security forces are on high alert, but peace remains elusive in the volatile town.
