Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South and chairman of the Appointments Committee, has revealed that the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwabena Afenyo-Markin, is under pressure from his party over his actions in the ongoing vetting of ministerial nominees.

According to Ahiafor, there was an initial agreement that Juaboso MP Kwabena Mintah Akandoh would be vetted on the specified night. However, Afenyo-Markin eventually reversed course, blaming pressure from his party as the reason.

"I was astonished because he had earlier informed me that Akandoh could be vetted. He told me that Akandoh directly approached him, asking to be vetted because he had brought people from Juaboso and Accra. Now, what changed? Afenyo-Markin informed me he was under pressure from his party." Ahiafor spoke.

He suspected that the New Patriotic Party would be concerned with the vetting process's pace. "I don't know why the party is pressuring him, but maybe they are not comfortable with the speed at which the vetting is going" according to him.
