The U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has provoked controversy with his proposal to limit the U.S. government to recognizing only male and female genders. This suggestion is a component of his "Agenda 47," which aims to shield kids from "left-wing gender insanity."

Trump promises to request that Congress enact legislation making male and female the only recognized genders, determined by birth. He intends to look into the possible dangers of hormone therapy and ban gender-affirming care for children.

Trump wants to eliminate federal financing for educational institutions that promote transgender ideology, critical race theory, or other "inappropriate" content.

He suggests prohibiting transgender athletes from playing for teams that correspond to their gender identity.

On his first day in office, Trump vows to repeal the safeguards for transgender children that were put in place in April 2024. LGBTQ+ advocates have criticized Trump's statements on transgender Americans, claiming that his policies will negatively impact vulnerable communities. The majority of voters oppose candidates that advocate against transgender individuals, according to GLAAD's voter poll. ¹.
