Edward Ennin, a former member of parliament for Obuasi East of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed shocking disclosures regarding the existence of secret state money that were purportedly embezzled by former officials. During an interview on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, Mr. Ennin stated that he was prepared to offer proof that would reveal the places and people responsible for this financial fraud.

He firmly declared, "I am ready to provide tangible proof of where the embezzled state funds are concealed," adding that he hoped this move would aid in the country's attempts to regain its wealth and reestablish responsibility in government.

With President John Mahama's administration launching the Organized Recovery of Assets and Looted (ORAL) strategy to fight corruption and recover embezzled public funds, Mr. Ennin's declaration coincides with heightened anti-corruption efforts.

The former MP also urged the present administration to provide openness and rigorous respect to due process in case investigation and prosecution, criticizing certain political actors for sustaining corruption while in power. "If we are to make meaningful progress, the fight against corruption must be free of partisanship," he said.

There has been a public uproar over Mr. Ennin's readiness to assist investigators, with many calling on the government to move quickly to investigate his allegations. Political observers have also offered their opinions, characterizing his claims as noteworthy and having the ability to revolutionize Ghana's anti-corruption initiatives.

Mr. Ennin has reaffirmed his pledge to help investigators uncover the purportedly concealed funds as the country awaits more information. He thinks that this audacious move will strengthen the battle against financial crimes and ensure that the Ghanaians receive justice.
