Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, founder of Movement for Change, has expressed optimism about breaking the duopoly enjoyed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fourth Republic dispensation.

The Former Trade and Industry Minister broke away from the NPP after attempts to lead the party to a general election proved futile.

He has stated that he plans to run in the upcoming elections in December as an independent. The Electoral Commission has authorized him to run in the presidential election. On the ballot, he will appear at number 13.

A former presidential candidate has teamed up with Alan Kyerematen ahead of the election. Ghanaian politician and businessman Akwasi Addai Odike has joined the Butterfly family.

Odike was the candidate of the United Front Party for the Ghanaian presidential election in December 2012. He placed eighth out of eight contestants with 0.08% of the votes cast.

During Alan Kyerematen's "Movement for Change" walk in Accra, he was apprehended. The walk served as the culmination of the Greater Accra Region campaign efforts for the Yellow Butterfly Movement. Alan John Kwadwo and his running buddy were among the hundreds of individuals who attended the walk, according to a post made by Accra-based Citi FM on its verified Facebook page.

According to Akwasi Addai Odike, different political parties and independent candidates, including the PNC, some defected CPP members, the Green Party, the Union Government, Dr. Abu Sakara and a host of others have decided to ally to meet the demands of Ghanaians calling for a united third force to break the duopoly of the NDC and NPP.

Hence, they have decided to unite behind Alan Kyerematen to wrestle power in the December 2024 elections.
