The results of the parliamentary elections in the Greater Accra Region's Dome-Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, and Tema Central constituencies have been declared invalid by Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC). Samuel Tettey, the Deputy EC Chair for Operations, made this news on Friday, December 13, 2024, at a press briefing in Accra.

The Constitutional Instrument (CI) 127, which regulates Ghana's electoral procedures, was allegedly broken by the collation procedures in these constituencies, according to Modernghana. Tettey emphasized that the integrity of the findings was jeopardized by the disturbances brought about by party supporters. Party supporters occupied polling stations, intimidated election officials, and compelled the results to be announced in support of their favorite candidates.

The EC underlined that the results were unlawful since appropriate procedures for collation and declaration were not followed. The confidence of the findings was weakened since the required processes were disregarded, even though police were present at the collation facilities.

However, similar efforts are still pending in other regions, such as Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Obuasi East, and Techiman South. In contrast, the EC was able to successfully re-collate results for the seats of Suhum, Akwatia, and Fanteakwa North.

The EC's ruling emphasizes how crucial it is to follow election protocols in order to protect Ghana's democratic process. Tettey confirmed that results would not be upheld if they were not compiled and announced in accordance with the guidelines.
