Ernest Owusu Bempah, the head of Corporate Communications at Ghana Gas and the Deputy National Communication Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a dire warning about what he sees as impending economic and energy crises under President-elect John Dramani Mahama. In an interview with Oyerepa TV, Owusu Bempah presented a bleak image of the future, predicting a return to 'Dumsor' (consistent power outages) and extreme economic hardship.

According to Owusu Bempah, Mahama's administration would struggle to raise the cash needed to support vital projects such as the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative. He questioned the incoming administration's financial stability and governance capabilities, claiming that the country will not develop under Mahama's leadership.

"There will be 'Dumsor' under John Mahama; I work in the energy sector and know this. There will also be tremendous economic challenges, and Ghanaians would come to regret voting for the NDC," he said.

He further claimed that his thoughts are based on conversations with business economists and his experience in the energy sector. Owusu Bempah contended that Mahama's prior record as president speaks eloquently about his failure to handle the economy successfully.

The NPP stalwart also slammed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for lacking concrete ideas to address the country's economic difficulties. He accused the party of making unsustainable promises in the current economic situation, especially given global uncertainties.

These remarks come at a moment of high political tension, with Ghanaians split over the results of the elections and the potential consequences of a Mahama-led administration. While Owusu Bempah's words may appeal to NPP supporters, they have caused intense controversy among Ghanaians, with many advocating for unity and constructive discourse to address the country's difficulties.

As the country enters a new political age, it is unclear whether the incoming administration will be able to overcome these accusations and deliver on its promises to better the lives of Ghanaians.
