Four people have been arrested for ransacking a buffer stock warehouse in the northern region, according to a report.

Four people were arrested in connection with the recent ransacking of the Buffer Stock Company warehouse in the Northern Region. The suspects, who are supporting police with their investigations, were caught following the theft of more than 150 bags of corn and other food items intended for Senior High Schools.The crime occurred on January 3, just after schools reopened for the 2024/25 academic year.

According to reports, only three schools got their food consignments prior to the incident, putting 15 secondary schools at risk of serious food shortages.Warehouse Supervisor Alhassan Salifu claimed that the crooks originally targeted food intended for the Tamale Metro Assembly before stealing school supplies.

Bukari Dahmani, Northern Regional Coordinator for the Free Senior High School program, voiced concern that the theft could disrupt school operations unless the government steps in quickly.
