Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Ghana's first female Vice President, has renewed social media admiration with nostalgic photos following her historic inauguration on January 7, 2025. At 73, her remarkable path continues to be a source of inspiration, demonstrating resilience and determination.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang was born in Cape Coast on November 22, 1951, and has accomplished remarkable exploits in education and politics. As a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), she made history in 2020 as the first woman to be chosen as a running mate for a major political party, pairing with John Mahama. Her selection represented a watershed moment in Ghana's campaign for female equality.

Her education began at Anglican Girls' Secondary School in Koforidua, and she later attended Aburi Presby Girls' School and Wesley Girls High School, where she graduated in 1971. She received her Bachelor of Education in English and French from the University of Cape Coast in 1977, followed by Master's and Doctorate degrees from York University in Canada in 1980 and 1986, respectively.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang was the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, serving from 2008 to 2012. She has also represented Ghana on the international scene, including at the United Nations for the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in 2007.

Her nostalgic images, which are currently trending online, depict a lifetime of dedication to education, leadership, and advancement, motivating millions to believe in breaking down barriers.
