The Ghana School Feeding Programme has announced the continuance of nutritious lunches for students in 16 regions, allowing caterers to catch up on their payments.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has renewed its commitment to providing one hot nutritious meal per day for students in public basic schools across the country as the 2025 academic year begins.

The GSFP issued a press announcement on January 13, 2025, directing all existing caterers to begin food services for beneficiaries across Ghana's 16 regions following the reopening of schools on January 8.

According to the announcement, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), in partnership with the GSFP, intends to implement a new caterer procurement process during the incoming administration.

This approach is expected to improve the program's efficiency and sustainability, as it now serves nearly four million pupils in poor communities.

The National Coordinator further stated that the government has made tremendous headway in resolving caterers' debts. Payment for the entire third term of the 2023/2024 academic year has been completed.



"Additionally, 40 out of the 71 cooking days owed for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year have been paid, with the remaining 31 days slated for settlement soon."

The GSFP urged stakeholders, including opinion leaders in recipient areas, to assist caterers in carrying out their mandate without hindrances.
