A worrying trend is that scammers are increasingly taking advantage of parents who aren't aware of the dangers of attending a prominent institution. A case has come to light in which a man named Isaac Boafo defrauded a parent out of GHS 8,500 by making a bogus claim that he could get their child enrolled at Achimota School.

On Monday, October 28, Mr. Boafo was recommended on a platform as a supposed insider with control over the Senior High School placement system. In a WhatsApp conversation, he laid out the pricing structure, stating that a placement in a Category A school would cost GHS 8,500, while Category B and C schools would be priced at GHS 4,000 and GHS 3,000, respectively.

The parent agreed to pay the substantial amount for the placement at Achimota School after believing his promises. But when the money was transferred, Mr. Boafo disappeared, not fulfilling his pledge. He further exacerbated the situation by cutting off all communication, leaving the parent feeling betrayed and shocked.
