Fatima Dzuma, a housewife, killed her husband, Baba Aliyu, with a pestle in his sleep at Lafiyagi Dzwafu in Katcha local government area, Niger State.

According to village accounts, the deceased's second wife killed her husband after a previous fight.

It was learned that Fatima married her husband around three years ago and had yet to conceive a kid with him, but his first wife had recently given birth.

Given the developments, community sources stated that the lack of children between them had always resulted in conflicts, one of which occurred the day before she murdered her husband.

It was discovered that Fatima had informed the locals that she had killed her husband and placed his body in a nearby bush because he had beaten her the night before, and she had resolved to do revenge, unaware that he would die.

Wasiu Abiodun Abiodun, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the event and identified Fatima as the suspect.

He also stated that Baba Aliyu's body was discovered in a bush near the house, stating, "She confessed that she used a pestle to hit her husband when he was asleep, and she later tied the deceased with clothes and rope and rolled the corpse to a nearby bush with a mat."

The PPRO added, "The corpse was brought to general hospital Bida for post-mortem, while the suspect was taken into prison. "She will be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution."
