Roland Banful, better known by his stage name GuiltyBeatz, is a Ghanaian music producer who is thrilled that four of his projects have been nominated for Grammy Awards in 2025.
GuiltyBeatz announced the exciting news on social media, showcasing the nominations for Best Global Music Album (Tems' "Born in the Wild"), Best African Music Performance (Tems' "Love Me Jeje"), Best R&B Song (GuiltyBeatz and Tems' "Burning"), and Best Progressive R&B Album (Kehlani's "Crash").
"4 MORE NOMINATIONS handshake ALL GLORY TO GOD!!" was the message he wrote on his photo.
The Grammy scene is nothing new to GuiltyBeatz. He worked as a producer on Beyoncé's "Renaissance" album, which took home four Grammy Awards during the 65th ceremony. For producing the song "Move" on the same album, he was also nominated for a Grammy in 2023 for Album of the Year. GuiltyBeatz would have won Album of the Year if Beyoncé had taken home the honor.
All credited artists, new material songwriters, producers, recording engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers are included in the Grammy criteria for Album of the Year. Because being featured on a nominee's song or album does not automatically make one a nominee, this can occasionally cause confusion regarding who is actually nominated.
Some Ghanaian artists have claimed Grammy nominations in the past despite not fulfilling the requirements. The performer, producer, and engineer/mixer receive the Grammy Award for Album of the Year if they contributed to more than half of the album's playing time. One can apply for a Winners Certificate if they worked on less than 50%.
GuiltyBeatz produced three tracks on Beyoncé's 2019 album "Lion King: The Gift": "Find Your Way Back (Circle of Life)," "Already" with Shatta Wale, and "Keys to The Kingdom" with Tiwa Savage and Mr. Eazi. He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2020 for these contributions. Famous Ghanaian DJ and record producer GuiltyBeatz was born in Palermo, Italy. He is most known for songs including "Bad Girl" by Jesse Jagz with Wizkid, "Sample You" by Mr. Eazi, and "Akwaaba" with Mr. Eazi, Pappy Kojo, and Patapaa.
