Justice A. Newton-Offei, a presidential worker and social media communication member for the New Patriotic Party, gave significant reflections after visiting the Jubilee House today. He stressed the fleeting nature of political power and its basis in the will of the people, who, he claimed, have the ultimate right to grant or withdraw it.
"Political power, indeed, is ephemeral," Newton-Offei observed, adding that many leaders frequently forget that their term is "wielded on borrowed time." He bemoaned humanity's failure to learn from history, noting the repeated pattern of hubris and mismanagement by people in positions of authority.
Justice Newton-Offei also defended President Akufo Addo, characterizing him as a fine leader who worked hard for the country but was disappointed by those indicators he trusted.
"Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a good man who gave his all, but some people he trusted failed him," he said, offering a nuanced appraisal of the administration's issues.
Newton-Offei closed with a profound remark on Ghana's changing political scene, stating that the "die is cast," and the people have recovered their authority. Newton encouraged humility and advised leaders to humble themselves and be accountable to their communities.
