The communicator stated that Mahama prioritizes his 24-hour economy over Free SHS program.

A spokesperson for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has advised parents of senior high school students to refrain from lobbying President John Mahama on the Free Senior High School policy, as it is not the President's top concern.

According to the female communicator, President Mahama prefers his much-touted 24-hour economy to the Free SHS policy. As a result, he will prioritize the successful implementation of the 24-hour economy over Free SHS.

In a video posted to the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, the communicator claimed that parents who cannot afford to pay for their children's secondary school should simply let them stay at home.

"If you believe you don't have enough money to send your child to senior high school, let him or her to stay home. During Akufo-Addo's reign, if you had four children, you could send them to school all at once. But before Akufo-Addo took power, parents were sacrificing to send their children to senior high school one at a time. That is how it was done until Nana Akufo-Addo implemented Free SHS. So it's no surprise that we're going back to the old ways of doing things."

She said, "So, if you are a parent with more than one child completing basic school, you should let one of them go to school first and finish before sending the next one. Do not put any pressure on Mahama. He has not declared that he intends to put Free SHS over his own 24-hour economic policy. Nobody should overburden Mahama."

In the run-up to the December 7, 2024 general elections, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reaffirmed the party's commitment to reviewing the Free Senior High Policy, despite efforts by political opponents to undermine the "party's good intentions."

Asiedu Nketiah stated that nothing will prevent the next NDC government from addressing the myriad problems that come with implementing the program to improve learning outcomes.

He was replying to an alleged viral doctored video in which he was seen stating the NDC's intention to abolish the policy after assuming power in Agogo, Asante-Akim North Constituency.

Asiedu Nketiah stated that such deliberate and determined attempts by parts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to earn cheap political points would not alter the party's commitment to reviewing and improving the policy.

He remarked that the policy's poor implementation had an impact on quality education and must not be allowed to continue.
