Concern has been raised by Mr. Obiri Boahen, a former deputy general secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), regarding the plan of the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to have their final rallies in Greater Accra and in nearby sites.

The private attorney contended that a compromise is necessary to avoid unanticipated events and that it is not a prudent security choice.

He pointed out that the security establishments should not have consented to let the parties hold their last rallies on the same day.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he stated that in order for the security chiefs to reach an agreement with the leadership of both parties, one of them must move the final rally's location or alter its date.

"We don't have to undertake security," he stated. One party holding a rally in Madina and another in Legon is not a good idea. I would have interacted with the two political parties and urged one of them to move if I had been the Minister of National Security.

"There should be an immediate intervention for the parties to reach a compromise because there may be a potential clash between supporters of the two political parties," he told host Kwabena Agyapong.

"Talk to the political parties and allow them to reach a consensus. Or they both insist on staying at the same location, so they urge each other to do it on different days. The two parties cannot stage their rallies on the same day, thus the security services must be strict. It is a poor security choice.
