In an interview with Sunrise FM in the Eastern Region, National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader John Dramani Mahama gave a positive message to Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) employees.
Mahama cited his prior attempts to improve the public broadcaster when asked how he intends to assist GBC. During his term as Minister of Communications, he was instrumental in giving media outlets under GBC the tools and resources they needed, which resulted in notable advancements.
He reaffirmed his dedication to making sure GBC has everything it needs to successfully carry out its mandate. Mahama underlined the value of a strong state media, citing international examples such as the Voice of America in the US and the BBC in Europe, both of which have substantial government backing. He maintained that GBC should have the same support in order to carry on being an essential forum for governance and public information.
"As Minister of Communications, I oversaw GBC's retooling and have previously collaborated closely with them. Significant progress was accomplished under my direction. I am aware of how important state media are, and I'm still determined to give them the resources they need to prosper and continue serving Ghanaians with high-quality services," Mahama stated.
