The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has responded to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's decision to return to the Ashanti Region for his campaign, describing it as a prudent move that will not disrupt his team. During a campaign stop, Mahama said that his team had purposefully waited for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate to finish his efforts in the region before beginning their own.

"We didn't want the presence of both candidates in one region at the same time, as it could create unnecessary tensions," says Mahama. However, he was surprised to learn this morning that Dr. Bawumia had changed direction and continued campaigning in the Ashanti Region, despite previously announcing the conclusion of his tour.

Unconcerned about the development, Mahama maintained a confident demeanor, claiming that no amount of campaigning in the region could shift the outcome in favor of the NPP. "He can even bring his wife, children, and bed to sleep in the region," Mahama joked; "but the NDC will still win."

The Ashanti Region, long considered the NPP's traditional heartland, has been a key point in both parties' campaigns. Mahama's remarks show his belief in the NDC's capacity to make major gains in the region, which is critical to the election outcome.

With only a few days until the December 7 elections, the fight between the two leading candidates heats up as they compete for support in crucial regions across the country.
