In connection with an alleged attack, James Klutse Avedzi, the NDC MP for Ketu North, has been the subject of a police report by Kobina Tahir Hammond, the MP for Adansi Asokwa.
Speaking before reporters at the Supreme Court on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, KT Hammond bemoaned his annoyance and claimed that Avedzi had shoved him during a conversation.
Since Avedzi was shoving me, I reported him to the police. We must act like human beings since we are members of that parliament. "Animalistic instincts are not characteristic of us," Hammond said.
He went on to describe the situation, adding, "I don't understand why I was talking to my nephew, Ato Forson, during a discussion with my colleagues instead of him. Out of sudden, this man began pressing me. Despite my repeated warnings that he couldn't push me, he managed to do so roughly five times. I have lodged a grievance.
Avedzi further escalated the incident by heckling Hammond during the altercation. This happened soon after Speaker Alban Bagbin postponed the meeting after NPP MPs boycotted Parliament.
