Asamoah Gyan, a well-known Ghanaian footballer, is facing accusations of misleading Ghana's young after surprisingly supporting Vice President Dr. Bawumia's campaign. Journalist Kevin Taylor has called Gyan's actions hypocritical.
Asamoah Gyan first announced a tour of Ghana, but then stunned many by backing Dr. Bawumia. This unexpected shift has sparked questions about his genuine objectives. Taylor alleges that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised Asamoah Gyan the position of Sports Minister, influencing his decision to join Bawumia's campaign team. However, after the NPP disbanded the manifesto committee, Gyan felt humiliated and dissatisfied because his expectations had not been met.
According to Taylor, Gyan was mislead by the NPP, specifically Franklin, who is related to Sammy Awuku. Gyan had hoped to be made Sports Minister, but instead was given the task of managing a sports committee, which led to a loss of trust.
Taylor has given Gyan 48 hours to conduct a press conference to explain his actions and reasons, noting that his worldwide credibility is at stake. He accused Gyan of attempting to "sell" Ghana's young for $5 million, raising major concerns about Gyan's ethics.
The issue over Gyan's rapid change of allegiance has sparked heated debate, with many questioning his honesty and motivations. As the crisis progresses, it becomes evident that Gyan's reputation has suffered, and he must take significant steps to regain the faith of the Ghanaian people.
