The current and first female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang was born on November 22nd, 1951 in Cape Coast, Ghana. Her education began at Wesley Girls High School, and she pursued her degree at the University of Cape Coast, earning degrees in English and French. She later went on to earn a master's degree in English, and she went on to obtain her PHD at York University (Canada), where she earned a master's degree in English literature.
Her Excellency the Vice President was the first female vice chancellor at the University of Cape Coast; she also served as Ghana's Minister of Education from 2013 to 2017, after which she became the chancellor of Africa's women's universities.
Her passion and self-esteem prompted President John Dramani Mahama to nominate her as the New Patriotic Party's (NDC) running partner. Her first attempt with the president failed at the 2020 general elections. She was supported by the NDC, and God is so good that today she takes office as Ghana's first female vice president.
Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang prioritizes education, gender equality, and youth empowerment. She dreams of founding a "women's bank" to assist Ghanaian women entrepreneurs.
