Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jr., the CEO of Kantanka Automobile, has replied to concerns raised by certain Ghanaians over the purported high prices of Kantanka autos.

Speaking at a recent public event, Safo emphasized the value of locally produced autos and urged Ghanaians to consider the expenses of auto manufacturing before criticizing prices.

According to Yen, Kantanka Automobile, one of Ghana's leading indigenous automakers, has been developing vehicles tailored to the needs and circumstances of the African market.

Some people have expressed dissatisfaction with the prices of Kantanka automobiles, usually comparing them to imported cars, despite efforts to promote locally produced items. Kwadwo Safo responded, "It is not affordable to manufacture an automobile.

Are people aware of how much it costs to produce a single engine? A single vehicle requires a significant amount of time, money, and technology to construct. He added that, while the company sources the majority of its materials locally, Ghana's lack of industrial infrastructure causes high production costs.

Safo also underlined the broader economic benefits of supporting local businesses and encouraged Ghanaians to do likewise. "When you buy a Kantanka car, you're not just buying a vehicle; you're investing in Ghana's future, creating jobs, and supporting innovation," he pointed out.

The CEO also mentioned the challenges that Kantanka Automobile faces, such as a lack of government aid and competition from less priced, commonly used international vehicles.

He asked the government to establish legislation that would encourage Ghanaians to buy locally made goods, such as higher tariffs on imported autos and tax rebates for regional producers.

Despite the criticism, Safo expressed optimism about the company's future growth and commitment to cutting production costs. "We are working on improving efficiency and introducing more affordable models without compromising quality," he told me.

For many Ghanaians, the Kantanka Automobile is a symbol of pride and innovation. Safo's words emphasize the need of assisting small enterprises in promoting economic independence and national prosperity.
