Kwaku Bonsam, a well-known spiritualist with a large following, arrived at President John Dramani Mahama's historic swearing-in event at the Black Star Square in grandeur and pageantry.

The spiritualist, sitting on a horse with live pigeons and doves fastened to his garments, exuded vitality.

Background:

John Dramani Mahama has been sworn in as Ghana's president.

At the occasion held at Black Stars Square, John Dramani Mahama took the Oath of Office, promising to always preserve Ghana's interests.

He will become Ghana's sixth president under the Fourth Republic.

However, John Dramani Mahama is returning for a second term after failing to win the 2016 election.

John Dramani Mahama, 66, is anticipated to face classic issues such as corruption, high unemployment, inflation, and public unrest.

John Dramani Mahama was born on November 29, 1958, in Damongo, the seat of the West Gonja District of the Northern Region. His father, Emmanuel Adama Mahama, was a prominent rice farmer who served as a Member of Parliament for the West Gonja Constituency and the first Regional Commissioner of the Northern Region under Ghana's first leader, President Kwame Nkrumah.
