According to GHOne TV, Kwame Asante, a famous businessman in Kumasi, was allegedly taken in broad daylight by a group of armed, hooded individuals.
The incident, which occurred on a busy thoroughfare in the middle of the city, has left many in the local community terrified and perplexed.
According to eyewitnesses, Kwame Asante was going about his business when a gang of hooded guys approached.
The men, armed with firearms, allegedly forced Asante into a vehicle before racing away.
This act of brutality took place in front of several bystanders, who watched in horror as the businessman was seized against his will.
One of the eyewitnesses, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated, "It was so unexpected. I noticed the men, all wearing black hoods, approaching Kwame Asante's automobile. They were shouting commands and pointing firearms at him. Within seconds, he was pulled out and pushed into their vehicle. It all happened so quickly, and there was nothing we could do."
The abduction has prompted significant anxiety among Kumasi residents. Many people are concerned about their safety and the increased prevalence of criminal activity in the city.
Some local companies are considering beefing up their security systems, while others are pushing for tougher police response to such instances.
Police in Kumasi have initiated an inquiry into the abduction, but no formal comments have been issued on Kwame Asante's whereabouts or the identity of the kidnappers. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
"We are treating this as a serious matter," a police spokesperson stated.
"We are working closely with our partners to track down the perpetrators and ensure Mr. Asante's safe return." We advise the public to be watchful and report any unusual activities."
