The Ghanaian government has issued an order prohibiting all sales, leases, and processing of state and public lands.

President John Dramani Mahama's decision, issued in a letter dated 10 January 2025 from the Office of the President, aims to protect public lands for the benefit of present and future generations.

The decision, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, directs the property Commission to suspend all current transactions involving public property. Furthermore, the Commission must submit a thorough report on all recent and pending transactions within 14 days of receiving the instruction.

This approach is part of a larger attempt to conduct a thorough assessment of the framework that governs state lands, ensuring accountability and openness in their management.
