Mahama meets Akufo-Addo to inaugurate the national transition team for Peaceful Power Transfer.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama and outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have officially launched the 2024 National Transition Team, a critical step in the constitutional process of handing over power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The event, held on Wednesday, December 11, at the Jubilee House in Accra, demonstrates both presidents' commitment to a smooth and peaceful transfer. The National Transition Team is responsible for overseeing this process, which includes informing the incoming administration on state affairs, giving access to important government data, and managing the President-elect's formal swearing-in.

President-elect Mahama spoke during the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of national unity and teamwork.

"The President briefed me on the internal and external security situation, as well as economic difficulties. "The transition teams will delve deeper into these issues, working together in the interest of Ghana to ensure a smooth handover," Mahama added.

President Akufo-Addo, on his part, stated that his administration will fully assist the transition process.

"I assure him [John Dramani Mahama] of my full cooperation and that of my government to ensure that his administration takes off under the best possible conditions," he told the press.

The inauguration emphasizes Ghana's record of peaceful democratic transitions and establishes the tone for future collaboration between the departing and incoming administration.
