Meet President Mahama's 10 Government Media Appointees

Since taking office on January 7, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama has added a number of well-known figures from the media to his administration. Let's examine the media figures that President Mahama has so far nominated to his administration.

1. Dr. Randy Abbey, Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) Acting Chief Executive Officer

On January 21, 2025, Dr. Randy Abbey, a seasoned journalist and former Metro TV host of "Good Morning Ghana," was named COCOBOD's Acting CEO. It is anticipated that his vast background in media and sports management will provide the cocoa sector with new insights.

2. Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Stanislav Xoese Dogbe

Former Joy FM employee Stan Dogbe has been named Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations). He has a variety of media and communications experience to the position, having previously worked as a Presidential Staffer.

3. Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim

Known for her work with Metro TV and Citi FM, Shamima Muslim has been named the Deputy Presidential Spokesperson. The Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA) was founded by her as well.

4. The Director of Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD)

The Office of the President has named KOD, a well-known broadcaster and fashion icon, as its Director of Diaspora Affairs. He is the one who started the fashion show "Rhythms on Da Runway."

5. Ghana Tourism Authority Deputy CEO Abeiku Santana

The Ghana Tourism Authority's deputy chief executive officer is Abeiku Santana, a well-known radio host and travel advocate. He has been instrumental in advancing Ghana's travel and tourist industry.

6. Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture John Dumelo

Actor and media celebrity John Dumelo has been named Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food. He is renowned for his political and agricultural engagement as well.

7. Dzifa Gomashie, Minister of Creative Arts, Culture, and Tourism

The new Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts is Dzifa Gomashie, a seasoned actress and former television host. In the same ministry, she was previously the Deputy Minister.

8. Presidential Staffer Rex Omar, who oversees the Black Star Experience

Celebrity highlife musician and media advocate Rex Omar has been named a Presidential Staffer in charge of the Black Star Experience program.

9. James Gardiner, National Film Authority Deputy Executive Secretary

Actor and television personality James Gardiner has been named the National Film Authority's Deputy Executive Secretary.

10. The Office of the President's Communications Consultant, Kwame Gyan

The Office of the President has hired Kwame Gyan, a media and communication specialist with background in public policy and radio, as a Communications Consultant.
