The Ministry of National Security has issued a directive prohibiting all drone operations around Black Star Square and its surrounding regions during President-elect John Dramani Mahama's inauguration on January 7, 2025. This action is part of the government's efforts to protect the safety and security of dignitaries, guests, and the general people attending the important event.

The announcement, made in a statement signed by Lily Fati Soale, the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Information, stated that the prohibition applies to both recreational and commercial drone activities. This precaution is meant to reduce security threats associated with unauthorized or unexpected drone activities during the inauguration ceremony, which is expected to be a high-profile event.

The statement emphasized the need of creating a secure and controlled environment for the effective execution of the presidential inauguration, emphasizing the participants' safety as a top priority. Given the increased hazards connected with such high-profile events, the government has made it plain that all drone operators in the region must follow security standards and fully comply with the restriction.

The Ministry of National Security also urged drone operators and other stakeholders to fully comply with the authorities and adhere to the limits. This call is intended to provide a seamless, uninterrupted, and secure inauguration ceremony, allowing all participants to savor the historic occasion without incident.

The ban places considerable restrictions on drone use in the wide area surrounding Black Star Square, which will serve as the focal point of the inaugural ceremony. Drones, which are commonly used for aerial photography, media coverage, and recreational flight, are particularly popular at huge gatherings and events, but their use in such sensitive settings can pose hazards ranging from privacy concerns to potential security breaches.

Drone operators wanting to be near the inauguration have been encouraged to rigorously follow the government's directive in order to avoid potential legal ramifications and maintain a safe environment for the event. This regulation is consistent with broader efforts to improve security during national festivities, public gatherings, and other vital governmental operations.

The Ministry of National Security underlined the need of working together to ensure Mahama's inauguration runs smoothly. All government agencies and parties involved in the event planning have been asked to prioritize public safety and assist the proper implementation of security measures.
