Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is scheduled to commission a fleet of electric buses on Wednesday, marking an important milestone in Ghana's transportation industry and a move towards encouraging environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation.

In an effort to lessen Ghana's carbon impact, the government has constructed electric buses with better accessibility features, such as higher steps, wider door access, and flat ramps for those with mobility issues.

Electric buses are predicted to lower transportation costs by 40–50%, making public transit more economical and effective for Ghanaians.

This initiative is also in line with the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The electric buses are projected to significantly improve Ghana's public transportation system when they are commissioned on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Adenta, Accra.

The deployment of electric buses is a big step in the right direction as Ghana continues to deal with the effects of climate change. Ghana is positioned to lead West Africa in environmentally friendly transportation once these buses are put into service.
