The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has conveyed positive tidings to Ashanti inhabitants about what is to come.

This comes after Otumfuo Osei Tutu II hosted the World Bank's Vice President. He emphasized his intention to work with the World Bank to promote development in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region. He made the statement during a meeting with the World Bank's Vice President at the Manhyia Palace.

The Asantehene highlighted that he did not want to rely on politics to make progress for his people. "I cannot rely on politicians for my advancement. "I don't want to rely on them, so let's make a social contract and then we do it," he explained. He stated that the Ashantis deserve better and that he will ensure that the region experiences significant growth.

During the conversation, Otumfuo identified specific areas that require immediate attention, such as road extension, transit system improvements, and employment creation for young people. He was confident that collaborating with the World Bank would provide better results in resolving these concerns than depending exclusively on political leaders' promises.

The Asantehene went on to say that development in the Ashanti Region should be prioritized because of the area's economic and cultural significance. He believes that by partnering with the World Bank, he can create sustainable development projects that will benefit people.

The World Bank has also reaffirmed its commitment to improving urban mobility in Kumasi through its participation on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System, which is an important component of the Kumasi Urban Mobility Accessibility Project (KUMAP).

The KUMAP project aims to address the expanding transportation issues faced by Kumasi, one of Ghana's largest cities, which is experiencing fast population growth and urbanization. The project's goal is to implement an efficient, sustainable, and integrated transportation system throughout Kumasi and its surrounding districts, which include Ejisu, Kwadaso, Oforikrom, and Atwima Kwabiagya South.
