On Sunday, December 15, 2024, President-elect John Dramani Mahama and his wife, Lordina Mahama, hosted a Thanksgiving Service at the Assemblies of God Ringway Gospel Church to express their appreciation for a successful election campaign.

The ceremony was organized to praise God for Mahama's win in the 2024 presidential election, and it was attended by members of the congregation, media representatives, and NDC supporters.

One prominent aspect of the event was the giving of specially branded food packets to participants, which represented appreciation and goodwill.

Malisecullen, a Ghanaian journalist, posted photographs of the food cartons on social media, revealing their contents.

Each box contained a bowl of Jollof rice, another meal, a bottle of Ekumfi Juice, water, a fizzy beverage, and other goods.

These parcels were branded with Mahama and the NDC, demonstrating a connection to indigenous Ghanaian items and instilling national pride.

The distribution of these branded food packages sparked a lot of discussion online.

Many people hailed the inclusion of Ekumfi Juice, a locally made beverage, as evidence of Mahama's dedication to promoting Ghanaian industries.

Others who were unable to attend the event joked about their absence and expressed a desire to attend similar events in the future.

Social media platforms saw a surge of comments recommending that another Thanksgiving celebration be held shortly after Mahama's official swearing-in as President on January 7, 2025.

Some people suggested holding it at a larger site, such as a stadium, to accommodate more participants, emphasizing the excitement generated by this show of appreciation.

By distributing food gifts, he not only celebrated his political victory but also highlighted solidarity and thankfulness.

The deed struck a profound chord with Ghanaians, reinforcing his reputation as a leader who cherishes the contributions and support of his people.

As Mahama prepares to take office, many citizens hope to see more symbolic acts of kindness.
