Ebi Bright, a Member of Parliament-elect for the Tema Central district and an actress, has revealed that many people ridiculed her aspiration to enter politics.

According to her, during the campaign, she had difficulty communicating with constituents since they did not take her seriously due to her acting background.

The actress faced immeasurable criticism when people repeatedly reminded her that "politics is not for 'cantata' people like me." I recall one man asking, "Does this girl think politics is the Cantata she acts?" she said.

Ebi Bright, a Ghanaian actress, has appeared in over 20 films, demonstrating her talent and flexibility as an actor. She first entered politics in 2016. She won the primary and ran for Tema Central MP, but was defeated in 2016 and 2020.

However, in the 2024 elections, Ebi Bright won a total of 18,539 votes, narrowly defeating her opponent, Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who received 18,421 votes.

The actress intends to use her success to benefit the residents of Tema Central.

"I perceive no obstacles in my pursuit of my interests. That is why I defied all odds in this election. Tema Central was thought to be a fairly secure seat for the NPP, but here we are today. "I'm thrilled to be a member of our next Parliament," she told Graphic Showbiz.
