Prof. Ransford Gyampo, a noted political analyst and lecturer at the University of Ghana, has praised the Electoral Commission (EC) for officially declaring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate as the winner of the Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary election. Gyampo praised the move in a recent Facebook post, describing it as a win for democracy and popular will.

He wrote, “We spoke against the EC’s earlier call for a rerun of one polling center in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency. The sensible thing has been done to uphold the will of the people.”

The declaration marks the end of a difficult election process in which the EC initially considered a repeat at a single polling station, a decision that many feared would damage the credibility of the overall result. Gyampo's previous criticism of this idea raised worries about fairness and the potential loss of public trust in the election system.

Gyampo stressed the importance of the ultimate decision in terms of respect for voter choice. He stated: "It is unwise to swim against the tides of this massive change!" This remark emphasizes the political shift represented by the NDC's victory in Dome-Kwabenya, a longstanding bastion of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Gyampo's comments are consistent with a broader appeal for electoral integrity and the need to put democratic principles over political agendas. His constant fight for election fairness has solidified his position as a credible voice in Ghanaian politics.

As the Dome-Kwabenya election concludes, the EC's decision to preserve the results serves as a reminder of the significance of protecting democratic ideals, a stance Gyampo has long advocated.
