Prophet Kofi Oduro, the founder and head of Alabaster International Ministry, has issued a strong warning to Ghana's newly elected President, John Dramani Mahama, about those pursuing posts in his next administration. During a church service on Sunday, Prophet Oduro warned Mahama against hiring those who, he alleged, are motivated by self-interest and might destabilize his government if granted key positions.
Oduro cited a recent remark by Mahama, in which the president stated that many people who distanced themselves from him after his 2016 election setback are again seeking his favor, bringing presents and accolades following his victory in the 2024 presidential election. Prophet Oduro denounced the change in allegiance as "hypocritical" and motivated by personal gain. He contended that these individuals who are campaigning for government jobs are essentially interested in abusing the nation's resources for personal gain.
"I urge President Mahama not to appoint such people into any influential roles," Oduro told reporters. "Their primary concern is their own interests, and they are unfit to serve the people of Ghana." He went on to explain that prior administrations had failed owing to similar faults, in which presidents picked personnel motivated by avarice, ultimately impeding the nation's advancement.
The prophet instructed Mahama to carefully select those he selects to crucial positions, advising him to favor persons who sincerely care about the country's growth. Oduro highlighted that Mahama should prioritize those who fear God and are dedicated to serving the nation's welfare.
This comment comes after Mahama won the 2024 presidential election with 56.55% of the vote, defeating Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received 41.66 percent. Mahama's victory signifies his return to the presidency after serving one term from 2012 to 2017.
