Ahead of tomorrow's special voting, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, has sent a message to special voters.
"The NPP inherited a security sector facing numerous challenges, from internal disputes to a stretched-thin workforce that needed a comprehensive reform," he wrote in a statement to the security services and the media ahead of tomorrow's vote on December 2.
Dr. Bawumia claims that they have greatly strengthened the ranks of the security services.
"We inherited a security sector facing numerous challenges, from internal disputes to a stretched thin workforce," he said in a statement to the media and security services voting tomorrow. It was obvious that significant reform was required. All of our security agencies now have much stronger ranks. Over 46,000 policemen make up the Ghana Police Service today, nearly 13,000 more than we inherited. The number of firefighters has increased to fifteen thousand.
The number of our immigration and jail services has increased in tandem. We have significantly improved your infrastructure and tools. Modern surveillance systems, including more than 11,000 cameras, have been installed around the nation, and the police force now has over 900 vehicles and three helicopters. With the construction of new barracks and housing units for staff, we have also enhanced living conditions," he continued.
"I sincerely ask for your support to continue the good work we have begun," Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia continued. Please cast your ballot for me, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, when you go to the polls. Encourage your coworkers and fellow security and media professionals to do this; together, we can keep moving forward. I am the top candidate on the ballot," he continued.
