John Dramani Mahama, the president-elect, was welcomed by President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House early today for a crucial meeting intended to facilitate a seamless handover of power. The two presidents, who have been friends for a long time, talked about Ghana's democracy's future while also reflecting on their respective histories.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized their friendship in a news conference, stating that they had been close friends since their 1997 meeting in Parliament. He underlined the value of cooperation throughout the transition and the mutual dedication to Ghana's stability.

"We touched on a number of urgent issues, including the recent challenges to law and order, as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our democracy, which respects the rule of law, human rights, and the security of all citizens," Akufo-Addo stated. Mahama's public participation on the issue, which he felt strengthened state power, was appreciated, he said.

The President also assured the public that both leaders would continue to put Ghana's interests first, saying their long-standing friendship would facilitate a seamless and speedy transfer of power.

"I think our friendship will help ensure a smooth handover, and we are here to talk about the transition team and other important issues. We are totally dedicated to making sure Ghana keeps moving forward," Akufo-Addo said.

Joy TV released a video of the meeting on its official Instagram page, which helped spread the word about the crucial meeting in the political transition. Since then, the film has generated a lot of public interest and internet reactions.
