In the UK, four Ghanaians—Adjei, Yeboah, Bonsu, and Baidoo—were recently found guilty of smuggling £4.5 million worth of cannabis. Following an investigation that showed the group tried to smuggle the illicit cargo into the nation while concealed amid sacks of gari, a staple delicacy in West Africa, they were given penalties ranging from four to ten years.

Following a tip from Ghana's Narcotics Control Commission, UK authorities seized the cannabis-carrying container at Tilbury Docks. More than 2,300 narcotic shipments were discovered by border officers, who replaced them with trackers so that authorities could follow the container's path. When the monitoring container arrived at a North London industrial area and the guys got ready to accept it, the group's plans fell apart. Every member had a part to play: Adjei drove Baidoo to the spot, Bonsu kept an eye on the site, Yeboah paid for the delivery, and Baidoo had already rented the yard under a false identity to hide their tracks.

When Baidoo's home search turned up electronic evidence linking them to the conspiracy and tools needed for drug activities, their plan was uncovered. They were arrested after being further implicated by bank records and text exchanges. Adjei and Yeboah were present at the sentence, while Bonsu and Baidoo are still at large.
