Reports state that Speaker of the House of Representatives Alban Bagbin is expected to dismiss the NPP caucus's request that parliament be called back to perform critical government business.

According to reports, the 2nd General Assembly of the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL) will begin today in Accra, hosted by the Speaker of Parliament.

The incident comes after the NPP caucus demanded that the Speaker summon an urgent meeting of parliament to discuss pressing government issues.

Within the next seven days, the MPs called for recall, but the Speaker has not officially addressed the matter.

The Speaker's order, which had essentially ousted the MPs from their positions, was stayed by the Supreme Court on Friday, October 18, 2024. This ruling came after a request for a stay of execution in relation to the Speaker's declaration.

On October 22, 2024, Speaker of the House of Representatives Alban Bagbin announced that parliamentary proceedings would be suspended indefinitely due to a lack of a quorum. He also said briefly that he had received a communication from the Supreme Court.
